What’s new

So let’s see….

We started doing sibling visits with Baby K and her Big Brother C. They seriously look like twins, it’s too cute! His foster mom and I set up the visits and have had two so far. Both visits have gone very well and it’s great getting to hang out with them.

Yesterday I took the girls to a Halloween party with a local Mom’s Group. They had a blast. They got to dress up and run around and play. Even got to do a craft and have snack.

Preston is still busy with Hockey and Soccer. Though today is his last Soccer practice. He’s actually been choosing Hockey over Soccer so that’s new!!

wow! already

It’s been a year! One whole year!

A year ago today we began our journey as Foster Parents. Around 2pm MENTOR brought to me a little baby girl of 2 months. She had a full head of hair, a sleep apnea monitor and medications.

She was little and quiet, went with the flow and didn’t mind being here.

Now one year later, she’s walking, “talking”, voicing her opinion whether through throwing her pacifier/food/toy, hitting or shrieking. She’s still the happiest little thing. And yes, she’s still little but quiet, no more!

We have been through an amazing journey with her. Learning things I never thought I would. We went from at least 5 appointments a week to now, which is a normal well baby visit schedule.

I’ve seen her grow into a fabulous toddler that looks to me for safety and encouragement. Her eyes light up when she sees Jarod and walks as fast as she can to hug his legs. He gets so excited to see Preston’s bus and waves profusely as he gets off. She loves her play time with her big sister, Kyla and Kyla loves taking care of her little sister.

We have bonded over many great happenings and many stressful times at the doctors and/or hospital visits. She is part of our family and will be with us forever……….

flu shots, pumpkins, snow and dermatologists

This was a busy week!

Jarod and I got our flu shots. Just the normal flu shots not the H1N1, not completely sure what I think of it yet. I better decide soon. Though the kids do have their yearly visits coming up, I’ll get their pediatrician’s thoughts on it and go from there.

Preston had soccer practice and hockey practice. He also had hockey pix, hopefully they turn out well :0).

We made a trip to the farm to pick out pumpkins. The kids LOVE this!!!

Kyla wanted them all :0)

The kids even picked out Baby K a few pumpkins:

Friday we woke up to SNOW!! Yes, snow!!! It didn’t stick but it was snowing. It’s only mid-October. Hopefully we get a warm spell before winter really sets in!
Later on Friday I got my stitches out on my back. It’s healing nicely and the lab results were clear. After they took out the stitches they removed a small, marble sized cyst from my leg. Interesting looking things those are. It’s a lot smaller of an incision then my back but I still have 14 days to go until I can get these stitches out. Luckily the nurse loaded me up with bandages because normal band-aids irritate my skin like something fierce. She really felt bad for me after seeing what the band-aid glue did to my back after 14 days. Hopefully this works better. They are sending the cyst off to the lab but don’t expect anything un-ordinary from it.
Anyways, enjoy the weekend!

Been a while

Yeah, it’s been a while!! Just busy. Have appointments and errands. Getting the house reorganized and cleaned out for the winter.

The girls’ room is rearranged and the play room too. Preston’s room is next. I uncluttered the living room and the kitchen is next.

We’ve started new routines in the morning to help Preston transition to school…. and it’s working, YAY!!

Baby K is walking like a pro… well, almost :0). And climbing too! Just trying to keep up with the older ones.

Evenings are busy with practices for Preston. Weekends are busy with games for Preston and Jarod. Oh and Kyla started gymnastics. Thinking about getting Baby K into swim lessons/class soon.

Like I said not a whole lot, just busy :0)

We’re back!

Yes, we’re back. Have been for about a week now. My parents are still here, they leave tomorrow. So I haven’t done much on the computer. Finally got some photos up on facebook and hopefully will soon get a couple here.

Disney was a lot of fun. It was really warm but everyone enjoyed themselves!

Preston had a hockey game this morning and is at a soccer game right now…. so busy. He did good at his first hockey game. It’ll be so neat to see the change by the end of the season…. which isn’t until March!!!

Kyla had a Bday party. She won it from the local sports center. It was really good and Preston even got to invite a couple of friends.

Baby K is doing well. Walking more and more. Getting more attitude :0) and pickier about her foods.

Jarod had a cold for the first part of the week but is doing good now.

I had a mole taken off my lower back yesterday. Have about 9 stitches. It’s a bit sore today, not too bad, but I also took some pain killers to help :0).

Well, that’s a quick summary. Hope everyone has had a good couple of weeks!!
