busy day

After taking a couple of days “off” we got up this morning and headed out. We ran by the pharmacy to get my medicine, then by Sears to return a bathing suit and then on to our favorite store Costco! We loaded up on goodies and drinks and then headed home. Luckily I got 99% of everything put away before Wendy from MENTOR showed up :0). After our visit with her, see previous post for details, we played outside for awhile. Preston worked on roller blading and more bike riding without training wheels, he’s doing better. We then loaded up everyone including the dog, well on of the dogs and took him to the Vet for his yearly visit and shots. Poor Boo was SO nervous but the did good. He has gained 5 pounds, so now he’s 70 pounds… doggie weight watchers here we come :0P. All-in-all he’s in good shape, his hips are still holding out and he’s as “strong as an ox”, the Vet’s words :0). C.J.’s visit is next month, he’s pry up to 20 pounds… fatties! Anyways, we got back home and played outside some more and then came and got some food.

We have a big weekend. Tomorrow we are heading down to Davis’ Farmland with Preston’s school, even Dad is going :0). Hopefully it doesn’t rain! Then we will return home to work on finishing up the Swing Set site, we’re almost done. Then Saturday Preston’s got a Soccer game, we’ll work on the yard more and then head over to a friend’s house with Preston for a mock slumber party and then back home. Sunday is the big day, we go and get the Swing Set. Luckily we are borrowing a friend’s truck so we won’t have to take it apart all the way and we may even have an extra hand or two… hopefully!!

visit

So today we finally had our “Home Visit” from MENTOR. It went really well!!

Wendy got here a little after 2 and was here until 3. We sat down and filled out some paperwork and then we wandered through the house…Preston led the way. He was SO excited to show someone our house and ALL his stuff. He was quite the chatterbox! We went through every room in the house except the master bedroom. She measured the bedrooms to make sure they meet their requirements, they do. She checked the hot water in the bathroom to make sure it doesn’t burn anyone, it doesn’t. The things we will most likely need to do is get our water professionally tested(I tested it and it’s fine, a kit from Home Depot), have our furnace checked and the fireplace too. Otherwise everything else is good.

Now she sends our CORI’s(background check) in and gets the paperwork in order. Then we will finish filling out our applications and get them in and decide if we are going to do the MAPP training in June or wait a little bit.

Oh, by the way we are going to work with MENTOR! I like that I don’t have to do two weekly meetings. They do have a group support meeting every week that you are encouraged to go to but are not obligated to.

Anyways, it’s exciting, fast but exciting :0)
