Last day

So yesterday was my last day of babysitting for Ryan. It seems so surreal! I’m still looking around the house telling myself not to forget to put this or that toy away so we don’t have any battles over them, then I remember, oh yeah, he won’t be here anymore… weird. I bet it’ll take me a week or two to get use to him not being here - I’ve watched him for the past 1.5, so it’ll be a bit of an adjustment. Jarod’s happy in the sense that we can take baby gates down and such, well after the floor is done, yep still working on that :0). Hopefully we will still see Ryan at Playgroups and such, they are in my Moms’ Group but if not I’ll pry pick up some evening babysitting for them :0).

It’s gonna be nice to get back to just me and my kids, especially Kyla, she really needs her space right now. Hopefully this break will give her time to get through that, we’ll see.

OH, on Thursday(little late) we went over to Misty’s house for a playgroup. It was just my kids and her’s, which worked out really well. Preston and Chandler got to play Wii, run around outside and play upstairs in the play room. Kyla was there too, but she really does her own thing. We were there for like 3.5 hours, the boys had a great time and Preston didn’t want to leave! Hopefully we can get the boys together more now that school is almost out. They had opposite schedules this school year and they will next year too.

I’m also busy getting a End of the Year Swim Party organized for Preston’s class. We invited his whole class, like 15 kids, over for a swim and potluck party. This is why I need to get the pool open and filter hooked up this weekend. We did get the tarp off and the water is GROSS. We’ll get the hoses hooked up tomorrow and throw some chemicals in it to clear it up. Then all I need to do is get some tables and chairs, haha, we’ll see how that goes. Anyone got a fold-up table I can borrow on the 13th?

Thunder

So Preston had soccer this morning, sort of. First, his coach was running late then within minutes of getting going it started Thundering and Lightening, which meant we had to clear the field and go to our cars and await further instrucitons. Minutes later they called the game. We’ve been unfortunate with the weather on Saturdays. Hopefully the last game, next week will be better. I did get some photos though. Oh and I have figured out how to upload them, but now this site says they are too big, so Jarod’s gotta take a look at it. But first we need to finish the floor, open the pool and finish the swing set… so much to do :0)

Phone Call

I just got off the phone with our Fresh Air Fund match! It was great meeting C_ and it sounds like her son J_ is going to get a long great with Preston. It really makes it seem more real and I know July will be here before we know it. It’s going to be a great experience. Hopefully we can get the boys to talk to each other on the phone. I think Preston would be SO excited then, not that he isn’t now. He’s still asking everyday when it’s going to be July and when the little boy is going to come over :0).

Can’t wait! :0)

Talk, talk, talk

Last night was Girl’s Night Out. About 4 of us went to a local Pool Hall and played a little bit of pool, had a couple drinks and talked A LOT. It was fun! It’s so nice to get out of the house with friends and have a good time. Any time we go out it is different people, which is neat. Our Moms’ Group has 40 members so it just depends on who can get out of the house, though there are those of us that are regulars :0)! But it’s neat to be able to hang out with different people who you connect with on different levels, it really makes life good!

New School

Yesterday was Preston’s Meet and Treat at his new school. He was very excited!!

We got there only to find out that his “best friend” and “girl friend” are IN his class, along with another friend/teammate! He was SOOO excited! We walked down to his classroom and met his new teacher. She had all the kids sit down and they read a story that her class right now made and then they colored a picture of themselves to put on their lockers. After that we headed down to the cafeteria and the kids had Popsicles… nice way to break them in to a new school :0)!

He is very excited to go to K and is even more excited that his friends are in his class!  I was also happy that he has some friends in his class. I was really hoping that his friend J_ was in the same class as they’ve been friends since the first week of school this year…. I can see them being friends all through school, that would be really neat!!

Now we just have to make it through the summer. Though he will be going to a camp at his new school next month, so hopefully that is fun. He will also have a playgroup at school(the school sets it up) and then an orientation the day before school starts. I really like how they ease them into their new school… happy so far and his teacher seems really nice and down to earth too, that’s a plus :0).

Race Car Driver

So Preston just announced what he wants to do when he grows up…. this is the first time he’s mentioned “when he grows up”. Usually he just says I want to do this or that but a little while ago he said he wants to be a Race Car Driver when he grows up!! :0) I told him that would be fun, cause it would :0)!

Getting there

So today was Tuesday, Jarod decided it was Saturday and took the day off… he was a “little” tired from our busy weekend :0)!

We had a fun family day, played lots of Mario Kart Wii, went to lunch and goofed around. Preston thought it was a great day!! Kyla had fun too but wasn’t to hot about the heat!! It was like 82 or something today and the poor girl sweats more then I do, and that’s saying a lot!!! We’ll have to get the air conditioners out soon, really soon! At least it cooled off tonight. Oh, we did have Thunderstorms too! Kyla decided that all the doors and windows needed to be shut during the storm… so the Thunder wouldn’t get in, I don’t know :0).

After taking a nap Jarod got up and finished up the tiling the kitchen, it looks AWESOME!! We’ll pry finish up the bathroom and entryway this weekend unless he feels like working on it after work. We still have to grout and seal it though. I say we, haha, it’s really all Jarod!!!! He’s done a lot I just assist when needed. Though I did rip up all the linoleum by myself… mostly :0).

Training

Oh, so we are moving forward with the Foster Care training. We will start our MAPP training during the first week of June. One of Preston’s classmate’s older sisters is going to babysit for us, yay! I even have back-up sitters from my Moms’ Group if we are in a jam but hopefully A_ will be able to do all of them. So far her calendar looks good.

It’s going to be a long month with two trainings a week, including CPR but it will be worth it. Now we just need to finish up our applications and get them sent in!

Reading Rainbow

So Preston has been reading these little phonics books every night at bedtime and tonight we finished the 8th book in the 1st series! He has done so well and REALLY likes it. As long as his focus is there he reads great but as soon as he starts getting tired it’s time to put the book away. He has no focus and just starts randomly guessing what the word is…. so not worth it :0).

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Wilson for the phonics books! We will now start the next set of 8 books in set 2… then I’ll have to find set 3, if it exists.
