Choices

So the other night I was looking to see if I could find anything on the new Law for Haitian Adoptions, nothing yet, and somehow ended up at the Mass. Foster Care site. I ended up reading a lot about adopting out of Foster Care.

I talked with Jarod a bit yesterday and we may be switching our plan to adopt through the state(Foster Care) instead of Haiti. Not that we are giving up on Haiti, as with adoption, no matter where you adopt from you are still helping a child that needs/wants a permanent family. There are lots of kids in need through the state and it may work out better for us.

I still need to do a bit more research and talk to some people at M.A.R.E., so we’ll see. Plus there’s always a chance that if we do not go forward with Haiti right now, that we will at a later date when things are a bit more stable.

For now we still have to get our Home Study done(which will hopefully be started in June) to move forward no matter which way we choose.

the weekend

p1050232.jpg

Friday night was a Dad’s Night Out at our house. Yes, our Mom’s Group organizes things for the Dad’s too, aren’t we nice :0)! The “boys” played video games all night along with munching and drinking. We set up both TV’s downstairs so that all 8 of them could play at once, yes, that was my idea ;0)! It seemed like they all had a good time and now I have a whole mess of recycling to put out this week ;0).

Oh, I got my hair cut again yesterday. Nothing drastic, I think Jarod was a little disappointed that he wasn’t shocked when I got home. I basically just trimmed up the mess I had. It’s a short angle, I like it.

I also took Preston to a his friends Birthday Party yesterday afternoon. He had a blast. It was one of those bounce house places, where they have multiple air blown bouncy things in two separate indoor rooms, great party place. He got tired out and enjoyed seeing his friend Chandler, he really doesn’t get to see him that often, schedules just don’t meet up…. soon though :0). He also did really good with keeping his band aides on. His bumps are healing so we are just covering them for cautionary reasons. He’ll be so glad when he doesn’t have to use band aides anymore, especially on his face! He’s also been taking his medicine really well, even though it tastes awful! He chases it down with a cup of water :0).

As for today, not much, we slept in and are enjoying the day of nothing :0). Well, actually I’m running over to a friends house here in a few to get a shelf thingy to replace our pantry. Right now our pantry is shelves along the wall that lead to the basement down the stairs, it was like that when we moved it. But since we are most likely going to be in this house for a little while longer we are trying to conserve space. With this shelf thing from Pamela we are going to move our ‘wall’ pantry down to the base of the basement stairs, there’s like a little nook thing there that it will fit nicely in and then we will either take down the shelves on the wall or more likely use them for something else so that we can free up space or de-clutter something else….. thanks Pamela!!

big girl fun

And what fun we had!

Last night was girl’s night out. We went a local pool hall, ladies night, can’t beat that, well only if the drinks were free too :0).  Anyways, there were about 9 of us and we had a blast. We talked, a lot, a drank a bit and played some pool. It was a really fun night. It’s so great to have such fun friends, love ya NAMers!

Let’s see, today we were suppose to go to our last day at gymnastics but since Preston’s bumps are still a little blistered and I have to put band aides all over his face I decided to pass today. I’m pretty sure I’m going to enroll him in a gymnastics class here by the house. It’s closer and I feel it’s a better program. I also think we’ll put Kyla in a soccer class soon. We might do gymnastics later with her but for now Preston wins out.

This afternoon Preston’s friend A came over and they had a blast playing upstairs in his room. Preston was so excited for A to come over and play at his house. We’ll pry have them over again or head over to their house next week, they live just down the road from us, literally.

Other then that I cleaned the house, yes clean. We even cleaned Allys’ cage, that would be Preston’s hamster. We’ve actually had Allys a year now, WOW, we had no expectations of her actually still being around. But Preston takes REALLY good care of her. She always has water and he keeps her food fresh, a little too often though :0). Now I just need to finish vacuuming upstairs.

second easter?

Oh yes, we had a second Easter this evening, thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Perigo :0)!

p1050207.jpg
The kids opened the box that the PBS truck brought, yes PBS, Preston insists on calling it that even though he knows it’s UPS. Anyways, they opened the box to find two Easter Baskets with fun stuff and some socks and underwear that they both had to model for us.

Here are some pix from tonight:

sooo excited

We got ourselves up at 6:20, Preston and I that is. Kyla was a awake to but I was hoping she’d go back to bed. She’s staying dry all night and around 6/6:30 she wakes up to pee but doesn’t go back to sleep. So she got in bed with Dad and Preston and I went downstairs to get ready to venture to the dermatologist. We left earlier then later so Kyla would stay quiet and Dad could sleep, he is SO not a morning person. Therefore we left around 6:55 and hit NO traffic what so ever, though I did take back roads and it was really early, we got there in 25 minutes!

So being a half hour early we even beat the Dr. there. After the Dr. got there we went right in and he took a look at Preston’s bumps and decided to put him on a medicine to help “kick start” his immune system to help fight the Melluscum off. Then he asked what bumps we wanted to treat :0). He did the ones on his face and then both legs. On the bright side some were already dying. Then the nurse came in to put ‘tape’ on them and Preston was SOOOO excited that his bumps were going to die, you would’ve thought he was going to Disneyland!

Now in about 10 minutes he has to get in the bath and wash off the Beetlejuice medicine that was put on them at the dermatologist’s office. I’m just so happy that he did both legs and his face!! And I know Preston is relieved that he won’t be itching anymore, it was really starting to frustrate him!

Then for a treat, as we dropped off the prescription(which they have to order, so we’ll get it tomorrow) I got him a box of Munchkin donuts from DD, that just topped off his morning. Oh, then we had to meet Dad at the Chevy dealer, my car had to go in for a recall fix and an oil change.

The fun never stops ;0)!

oh the bumps!

At least I started feeling better today, yay!

Poor Preston, his bumps started to appear on his face yesterday. Oh, for those who don’t know he has Molluscum Contagiosum. It started with two bumps under his armpit in September, he is now covered. It’s horrible and they itch him. They spread by rubbing/itching the bumps and then touching another part of the body. It can be transferred to others too. Luckily we haven’t gotten them or anyone else that we know of. Even though they are contatgious he is still allowed to go to school as long as they are covered up, which he’s learned to deal with.

Anyways, the dermatologist is a PAIN to get into but and I tried to get an appt. before our next one, which is April 10th but they had nothing. So this morning, I was ready, I was ready to call and GET that appt. for my son!! So I call and they’re like okay how about tomorrow, huh?, no need to push them or get angry, but I was READY!! Oh well, I’ll take it. So we’re off to the dermatologist tomorrow morning, we have to be there at 8 and since it’s in a different office we have to leave at like 7am, what we won’t do for our kids!!

I’m so glad we are getting in there tomorrow, his legs look awful, they weren’t half as bad 3.5 weeks ago!! And the fact that they are on his face, well you should see the scars from the blistering solution on his arm! I’m really curious to see what they do for his face and they will be doing both his legs, says me and Preston. He’s SO ready to have these bumps gone. He’ll do anything to keep others from getting them, which is awesome to see that side of him, he’s such a sweet kid :0).

I’ll let you know how tomorrow goes!

…. and continues some more

Happy Easter to everyone!!

p1050192.jpg

Preston was up at a wonderful 6:30 this morning telling me what the Easter Bunny brought him and sister. Though I did beat him by an hour, I was up at 5:30 with tummy issues, yes my fun began early ;0).

So by seven I gave up and got up since Kyla was up and I figured they’d be trying to open everything. The bunny brought Preston magnifying thing that plugs into the tv and Scrabble Jr., which we’ve played twice today! Kyla got a coloring book and a My Littlest Pet Shop Clubhouse thing, she’s played with it all day and so has Preston :0). Oh and of course candy, which Kyla devoured half of by the time I got downstairs :0).

p1050193.jpg

We played with the toys and did a couple Easter Egg hunts and started making dinner this afternoon. We had a low key dinner, which was nice, especially since my tummy wasn’t keeping anything in! We were invited to a friend’s house for dinner but I’m not a Holiday traveler, except for Thanksgiving plus with my tummy I’m glad we didn’t.

All-in-all we had a good Holiday, not great, well for the adults, the kids had a blast, which is what it’s all about!! :0)

…. and continues

p1050175.jpg

Yesterday we got up and headed out to Charmingfare Farm for their Egg-citing Egg Hunt. But first off, I woke up nauseas and was pretty much nauseas all day…. no not pregnant!! I felt a bit better during the day while we were out. But it was really chilly so maybe it kept my mind off of it.

p1050172.jpg

The kids had a blast hunting for eggs. It was a simple egg hunt, you know toss home eggs here and there and let the kids go collect them group after group… at least it moved fast. We visited with the animals and fed them. Kyla thought the ponies were silly when they ate out of her hand. Preston was excited to see the Easter Bunny. As I said it was cold so we made our rounds and then headed home. Jarod got cold quickly and was tired which didn’t help and I didn’t feel all that great but at least the kids had a blast! :0)

p1050171.jpg

p1050181.jpg

All the eggs had candy in them, which was a big hit! Then the kids got to pick out a ’special’ egg with either more candy or a prize number, both got candy. But because they got candy, they also got a coloring book, stickers and gift cards to Wendy’s… Preston loves Wendy’s so that was a big hit!!

and the fun continues

p1050157.jpg

Finally Preston slept all night without waking up because he was itching. Yay! The antibiotic is working and the itch lotion is great. BUT Kyla was up a few times. Rubbing her eyes and saying ouch. I thought GREAT! Pink Eye. She had a chance of being exposed last week and I could’ve missed something while cleaning that the infected child touched and then she touched or she could’ve picked it up somewhere. Though we haven’t been anywhere. But anyways, we slept in a little bit this morning, thank goodness and then got up and sure enough her eye was slightly red. Called the Dr. and they got us in around noon. So we dropped Preston off at gymnastics and Dad picked him up while Kyla and I ran over to the Dr. One look and they knew exactly why she was there because by then her right eye was red and the goop had started. So we got a prescription for some eye drops and headed off to meet Dad and Preston for lunch.

p1050166.jpg

Preston barely ate cause the antibiotic was still messing with his tummy but luckily he did eat breakfast and by his second dose today it didn’t bother him, so we should be good. Kyla chowed on my pita bread from my salad and Jarod had a sandwich. It’s awesome having the Dr. just down the road from his work and that he works and such a great company that allows them to do what they need to do when they need to do it. Plus Dad can be really awesome and helpful when he wants to :0). Thanks!

After lunch we head back to the pharmacy to get her eye drops and then head home to the fun part, putting the drops in. I did have the choice of drops or the goo stuff but chose the drops. And I’m glad I did. The first round was like trying to put them in a cat but the second round was sooo much easier. I gave her a bit more control over the situation and she sat on the couch looked up at the light behind her and I dropped one drop at a time in her eye. She’s awesome when you take the time to explain what you need to do. She has such great comprehension of things when you explain them to her, it’s sooooo nice!

By this evening she was feeling better and I busted out the plastic eggs I picked up at the new dollar store next to the gym(I went last night) and we did Easter Egg hunts. The kids had a blast!! Here are some more photos of that:

Mar 18
2008

Soooo

a busy day turned in to a dull one, well kinda.

Last night both kids had really hard nights. Preston’s been waking up itching, can’t wait till his next treatment for his bumps. I even got smart and scheduled his next appt. today so that we don’t have to wait a month this next time. Kyla just woke up a few times. They are both going threw growth spurts to, so who knows!  Anyways, they both slept until 9am or after, which is awesome. You have to understand, Preston’s up at usually 7 and Kyla 7:30/8. Needless to say we didn’t make it to the gym this morning.

So here’s the fun part. After lunch we were getting in the car to go over to Preston’s friend’s house. Kyla was in the car and Preston was changing his clothes when I noticed a rash, a NEW skin thing on his chest/tummy. So I call JoAnne and cancel going over there, call the Dr. and head there instead. They tested him for Strep, but the rapid test was negative…. maybe viral. I made sure they looked at his bumps because I had already called the Dermatologist and tried to get him in earlier then his appt., that was a bust! Dr. Sanders thought that a couple of the bumps looked like they might be getting infected(due to the excess scratching) so she did like a biopsy of one, just took some stuff from one of the bumps to test it. He did get an antibiotic though, partly for the strep, a different kind I believe(the rash), there’s so many kinds of strep who knows… I should look that up and see if I’m on the right page. Plus it will help with the infected bumps since the type of antibiotic is for skin issues too. Oh the fun!

Since then we really haven’t done much. We stayed home, didn’t go to My Gym and have been laying low. I wanted to make sure he didn’t have any side effects from the antibiotic since it’s not he mainstream Amoxacilian and all that but he seems fine.

Like I said, oh the fun!
