and away we went

Well after the fun marker incident we made our way down to Jesse and Jessie’s for Thanksgiving. Everyone had a good time, we all enjoyed some good food. Well, at least the grown ups did. Preston tried a bite of everything, gagging and all :0) and Kyla had dessert and a bread. I tried to convince her the turkey was chicken but it was a no go. Though now Preston thinks that chicken is in the turkey.

I think the kids’ favorite was the pumpkin cookies, they were awesome. And I have to say the pumpkin cheesecake was fantastic!

Preston had fun entertaining everyone and playing Wii. Kyla enjoyed playing with Eamon’s toys and terrifying the kitty cat! Oh and she loved the little doggie too :0)

It was a great time, thanks!

a little nervous

So we finally took the big step and got Kyla transitioned to her big girl bed! She was a bit nervous the first night but after an hour and a half she was out like a light. She took to her new bed very well after that even decided naps were okay again but wasn’t sure about getting out of the bed until she woke me up to come in to her room :0). Then Sunday she realized she could get out on her own, which hasn’t made naps so appealing anymore!

All in all it was a really easy transition and she loves her new bed and Preston can’t wait to be able to sleep in her room too…. she has bunk beds!!

This was her first night :0)!

What a morning

First off Kyla spent her first night in her Big Girl bed, yay!!!

She was very nervous and it only took an hour and a half to get her comfortable enough to go to sleep ;0). And tonight she crawled in without hesitation. Though 10 minutes later, she needed me to lay down with her but after a swift diaper change and a cup of warm water she was fine.

On the other side of this, I got up this morning to Preston and Kyla talking and laughing and it seemed far away and it was….. they were downstairs. First off, we had two gates up so she couldn’t go downstairs, which is also our reason for keeping her in her crib for so long. But of course brother knocked down the gate(accidentally) and instead of telling us he and Kyla went downstairs into the kitchen. And since they couldn’t find the markers Preston went to his art desk and got some. So by the time they woke me up and I got downstairs they had produced this beautiful piece of art in our kitchen:

You know, the picture really doesn’t do the art justice. It was much more colorful and a great use of space in real life. They didn’t miss a spot on the kitchen floor, well except where the rugs were. I belive the big spread of green on the right here is suppose to be waves or at least that is what Preston said it was. Somehow, somewhere he forgot we color on PAPER not the floor! Though from the full use of their space you can tell they had a lot of fun, which is probably what woke me, their excitement of such a great work space!!

so excited

So we got our first snow a couple of days ago. Preston was BEYOND excited.

It wasn’t much but enough for Preston to declare it was winter now! :0)

oh what kids say

Preston came home from school with a Turkey Recipe book that he and his classmates made.

Here is his recipe:

Clarification is below :0)

1) Ms. Hammel will buy one for my family, because we don’t buy turkey

2) a million lbs of turkey

3) wash it in our big blue pool

4) wrap it in 6 towels to dry him

5) put M&M’s on it

6) cut it with a very sharp knife

We went Glow Bowling yesterday!

The kids had so much fun, well after Kyla got over her fear of the ball return :0). Then she didn’t want to stop bowling!!
p1030967.jpg

Preston loved it as usual. He’s been bowling a few times and is actually pretty good :0)

Everyone had a great time and Kyla only tried to run down the lane once :0).

good news on health for hatians

This was released on November 13 of 2007 from:

http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Nov13/0,4670,HaitiVaccinations,00.html

The article reads:

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Health officials in Haiti are rolling out the largest mass vaccination campaign in the impoverished country’s history, aimed to inoculate every child against rubella, polio and other diseases, a U.N. doctor said Tuesday.

More than 5.7 million children and adult women are to be immunized in an effort that began Monday involving almost 12,000 Haitian and international heath workers and volunteers, said Dr. Teresa de la Torre, chief of UNICEF-Haiti’s health and nutrition section.

Measles and rubella vaccinations will be given to 4.7 million children and teenagers, while 1.3 million children under age 5 will receive the polio vaccine. Millions will also receive vitamin A and treatment for worms while thousands of adult women will be inoculated against tetanus.

speed bump

So Jarod and I were all set getting ready to make our first Home Study appointment when Jarod finally got all the details for a new bonus program at work. This program will enable us to pay for certain parts of the adoption instead of using a loan/credit, which is always good :0).

Though it will mean putting a hold on the Home Study until June we think it will be better for us financially. Plus we’re still waiting to see how the law is changed in Haiti, which we should now after the first of the year.

It is a journey, that is for sure and we haven’t even really gotten started yet :0). But once we do, it’ll will be a great journey and we are both looking forward to it very much!!

Well Halloween was almost as exciting as Xmas!

Preston could hardly contain himself. He had a party at school and got all kinds of goodies, even sister joined him for his party… and mom and dad. Mom even made some cool Cat Cookies ;0).

Oh, Preston and Dad carved Pumpkins the night before too
