After a great relaxing week at Smugglers’ Notch we have finally returned home!!
We spent 5 fabulous days wandering in and around Smugglers’ Notch Resort. The kids spent the mornings at the on-site Day Care(or “camp” as we called it), Treasures, where they enjoyed painting, water/sand play, hikes/stroller rides and lunch :0).
They both loved it, especially Kyla!! This was her first experience in Day Care and she acted like a pro, not one tear or whimper! Preston made some friends in his class who he later played with at one of the pools we visited!
I think his favorite thing was the 1.5 hour horseback ride we went on yesterday. He was awesome, he rode his own horse, Trigger and we didn’t hear a complaint or whimper out of him the WHOLE time!! On the way back to “camp” he did state that his legs kinda hurt and that it was a long ride but he still liked it :0). Jarod rode Ike, who was lazy and wanted to snack ALL the time :0) and I rode Leo, a Draft cross(he’s bigger then Jarod’s horse), he was a good boy but didn’t like the flies!
Over the first couple of days Kyla decided that she liked the water :0). The first night we got there she wouldn’t get in it and by the last night we had to drag her out kicking and screaming :0). We were lucky enough to get a condo that was right across from the indoor Aquatics center with a spray and play pool area in it!
We were also lucky enough to have the whole condo building to ourselves. Meaning there were six condos in our building and we were the only ones there. I figure this is why they charge half price after Labor Day!!! The place was really dead but it was nice and relaxing. A lot of the “summer” things were closed but I already knew most of them would be. It was a great introduction to the resort and we can’t wait to go back. Hopefully in June, it’s a bit more expensive, so anyone want to go with us?.?. Oh, we also got some love from the front desk and was upgraded(for free) to a 3 bedroom instead of a 2 bedroom(we did not ask for this:0), which was good since we had to move Kyla out of Preston’s room within ten minutes of the first night…”hello Preston, HELLO Preston, HELLO PRESTON” was her chant of the hour :0)! It was a beautiful condo!
We also went Kayaking yesterday. It was a little warm for me. For those who don’t know, I experienced heat exhaustion a few years back and since then can’t handle the heat at all anymore! Luckily the water was nice and felt really good when I dumped it on my head! Jarod loved Kayaking, (this was a first for both of us) and would like to do it regularly. Though we would need to find a river that actually moved ;0). The river we were on really didn’t move much plus we had the wind in our face. And even though I loved the wind, it did make it tough. I’m not as sore as I thought I would be and would like to do it again. Oh, and we were actually schedule to go on Wed. but they were short a person so we had to reschedule for Friday and they comped our kayaks, meaning our kayak trip was FREE, gotta love that!!
OH, Preston found a new love, mini golf. He found mini golf to be fantastic! He played two games in a row the first time, 9 holes each. Then he played another 9 holes before we went horseback riding and then he played again before we left this morning and he can’t wait to go to the local mini golf place up the road from us. Kyla enjoyed it too, though she just wanted to help out and bring us our balls after we hit them down the green :0). But she did find a more exciting thing to do, climbing up and down the stairs and counting as she went. She’s kinda goofy!
All-in-all we had a great time and would definitely go back and would highly recommend Smugglers’ Notch Resort for a good get a way!! They are open all year round and hopefully one day we hope to make it there for a ski trip :0).
