slip n slide

So the weather has been oddly nice, or so I’ve been told… this is only our second fall here, so we made our way to a friends house for a playgroup. The kids played on the slip n slide and in the kiddie pool. Preston now wants a slip in slide!!! I thought about getting one a while back but was like, we have a pool! Plus I was waiting for them to go on clearance but now they are probably all gone, oh well, he’s ready for snow anyways!

He’s absolutely loving school and learning things everyday!! They do a lot of letters and writing, which he loves. He’s been writing since he was about two, so by now his handwriting is almost better than mine :0)! He’s made a friend at a school too and from what I’m told they do everything together :0). This is great since they will both be in Kindergarten next year!

Kyla on the other hand is very much into her horses and dolls. Luckily she received a doll house and horse stable for her Birthday and play with them all the time. She’s actually starting to name her babies. We have Happy Baby and Stroller Baby, though that one’s name changed today but I couldn’t understand her ;0). She also loves to ride the bikes outside. I don’t know what she’s gonna think about the snow this year. But if Brother loves it, she will, because “anything he can do she can do better”. That’s our Kyla motto!!

Birthday, Birthday, Birthday!!

We celebrated the kids’ Birthdays today at CoCo Key Water Resort, it was awesome!!

Preston got to invite a couple of friends and so did Kyla, everyone had a great time. We went on all the slides, even the huge ones. The “adults” took turns watching the kids so the other “adults” could go on the big “kid” slides… Preston says next year he’ll be big enough to go on the big kid slides. We also floated around the lazy river a few times, Kyla really liked that one and played in the wading pool.

After playing in the Water Park we had pizza and cake, then Preston and Kyla opened their awesome presents that everyone got… thank you!!! :0) AND then after that we played in the arcade.

Preston loves all of his presents(he announced that tonight) and played with every one of them when we got home… Kyla did too :0).

Yay we picked one!!!

So we finally picked a Home Study agency, Angel Adoptions http://www.angeladoptions.org/

We mainly chose them because they take the time to meet the adoptive family and “match” them with a social worker that they feel will work well with the family. This makes me feel really comfortable in that they take the extra time with families. Our adoption is going to be a long process and the Home Study is a huge part of it so we want to be able to work with a social worker that works well with us!

Now we just have to get the applications for CHI and Angel Adoptions filled out and sent in :0) and then we’ll be on our way… can’t wait!!!

where have i been

Well, we started a project Friday evening!! We are finally redoing our original 1970’s bathroom or at least the the toilet, vanity and floor that DESPERATELY needed it!! We had a fabulous orginal 70’s toilet in there that REALLY needed to go. Not only was it ugly but it smelled and NO cleaner helped!! Once we are done, or Jarod is done I’ll repost with pictures. It’s very exciting and looks really good already, it’s a small but HUGE improvement!! And Jarod has done an AWESOME job!!! :0)

2 minutes and a pen

Oh Kyla, what an adventure she is!

So today I ran downstairs for like two minutes and upon my return she excitedly says, heeah Mama, handing me a pen… where did she get that?!? Great, I think, what did she write on this time, hopefully not the computer screen that wasn’t fun to get off last time! But NO, she again excitedly and very proudly shows me her LEGS!! Aren’t they beautiful, I think and that’s what I told her, their beautiful legs, good job… at least it wasn’t the computer, tv, wall…

She did redeem herself though! We had success in the potty tonight!!!!! While taking a bath and attempting to soak Mom with all the bath water, she stood up and announced, Pawhee. So dripping wet I plopped her on the toilet and she immediately peed on the potty. Was it a fluke or are we on our way to a potty trained Kyla? Only time and 5 million 1 second sits on the toilet will tell!

pants, diaper, what for?!

This evening Kyla decided she didn’t need to wear pants or a diaper. No she’s NOT potty trained. So here she is running around half naked and all I can think is great she’s gonna pee somewhere on the floor… and we just got the dog house trained :0). Therefore I grabbed the potty chair from upstairs and put it in the dining room(no carpet). She’s gated off from the kitchen, where the (bathroom is) since she is beyond nosy and destructive, so that was the only “logical” place for it. And yes, she sat on the potty every two seconds. She went through the whole routine, put pants on take pants off, sit on potty, every time!! I then decided to grab some underwear for her, like that’s gonna stop the pee flow to the floor, and she thought that was neat. It was very entertaining to watch her try and pull them up… she’s starting to get it :0). I think she really liked having the potty so accessible, not that she ever went potty but she tried a gazillion times! And of course just when I thought, hey maybe we’ll actually get somewhere with this, she pees on the floor and almost on her brother’s head. He thought it was really funny since he was playing a game with her and was going to crawl between her legs. He was cracking up saying she almost peed on his head, oh 4 year olds, gotta love em!! And those independent almost 2 year olds, priceless! Can’t wait to see what she does tomorrow!!

1st day… sort of

Today was Preston’s first day of School… sort of. I say sort of because he just finished up his summer school program there a couple of weeks ago. So today really wasn’t a big deal. Though the Big part of it is that he is officially a Big Kid there, he’s a Pre-K kid!! The first thing he told me when I picked him up was that next year he was going to go to Kindergarten :0). He was excited that he wrote his name, mom and dad at school today, though he’s been doing this at home for some time now. That’s about all he said, oh and there is a kid at school named Jared. He thought that was neat since Dad’s name is Jarod too. But this Jared was a KID, he was very specific about this :0)! It was a good day and I know he was excited to go, since he didn’t argue about not going :0). I’m really sure that he’s going to have fun this year since he will be prepping for Kindergarten. So much to learn, I’ll keep you posted on his many findings of the year!
