Home Study

Still working on choosing a Home Study Agency. I’m waiting on some information from an agency. I have narrowed it down to two :0)! I need to hopefully give one a call tomorrow and see if I get a good “feel” from them. The one I talked to last week, I just didn’t feel comfortable with.

Here is some info on Home Studies:

Friends

We hung out at home today. Preston’s friend Chandler came over and they did the boy stuff, played Xbox :0) while his Mom and I had a relaxed time chatting. We all had lunch from the local restaurant and enjoyed the afternoon.

Later I made it over to another friend’s house where she taught me and another Mom how to make Jewelery. I made a necklace and earings. It was really exciting designing my own and then putting it together, okay Debbie helped :0).

chip in

Thanks to a fellow Mom, SerahRose I got this neat little chipin widget. It’s linked to my Paypal account so donations made are made through a VERY secure website. We’ve been with Paypal for YEARS! I also like that it has a chart so you can see how close we getting to our goal. Now all we need is to get that chart moving!!! :0)

Oh, I purchased a couple of those stick up bulbs from the Promotional Fundraiser and I love it. I’ve been wanting a light in my pantry(the top of my basement stairs) and this was the perfect fix. All I did was stick 4 AA batteries in peal off the sticky tape thing and stick it on the wall and presto I have light!! It’s fantastic! If you need a quick fix for a dark area without having to wire anything, these are perfect.

A little bit about us and how we got here

Bud Horses
So I’ve started this blog thingy, didn’t think I would but I have… so much for not getting sucked in :0)! Nah, it’s hard when all of your family lives on the other side of the country! Yeah, I’m in Mass. when my entire family lives in Cali. But that’s okay, I do have my husband and two kids :0). Yep, I’ve got two kiddos, a 5 year old boy and 2 year old girl both VERY strong willed kids, which makes for very interesting days! Luckily I’m part of a mom’s group here in the Nashua, NH area that has been a life saver since we moved here. I actually help organize it but I’ve met some wonderful people and have made great friendships and so have my children.

My husband works at Red Hat, which is what brought us across the country a little over a year ago. We came out from Seattle, WA, where my husband is from. I’m actually from California, born and raised :0). I met him, Jarod at my Jr. College, he played baseball and still does, while I was playing volleyball. We then moved up North to Ukiah, CA and finished our Jr./Community College careers. After that we moved to Seattle, WA for the summer and then out to Memphis, TN. Jarod had a baseball scholarship and I a volleyball one. After we got our degrees, okay after I got my degree we went back to Seattle, WA, not big fans of Memphis! We lived in Seattle for 5 years, bought a house, got married and had a kid, Preston in 2002. Then had another kid, Kyla in 2005. We then packed up and moved across the country to the Boston area in April of 2006. And here we are a year later and quite settled. We all love the area and the people. Preston is going to school and loving it. He also plays soccer. Kyla hangs out with me at home and we wander around the area looking for fun things to do with our Mom’s group.

Jarod, my husband works, plays soccer and baseball. He use to be a great pitcher but due to a mishap ending in a shredded ankle missed his opportunity to be drafted, as he was being scouted in college.

Well I think that covers the first of it, except for me :0). My name is Jamie, I’m a California girl. Raised on what many would call a ranch. I had horses, cows, pigs and the such. I grew up in an agricultural area in a little town in Cali called Porterville but I actually lived in Springville. I have great parents who did and still do all that they can for me!!!

I had a A LOT of fun in high school. Played sports year round, went out with friends and sat in the freezing cold to watch those awesome High School Football games, of which many of the players were my friends. I also had a blast in college, partying hard and graduating with a major in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology. I now stay home with my children and babysit when needed for a wonderful little boy.

Okay, I think that’s it! I’m gonna try really hard to keep this up for those who are interested in knowing what’s going on in our lives :0)

Check ya later!!

York Zoo

York Zoo

So a friend and I took our kids up to York Zoo in Maine. We made it there in great time and just in time for everyone else to get there too. It was really busy but we had a great time!! Preston couldn’t stop talking about it all night. We saw lots of animals

p1020746.jpg

and Preston even found a caterpillar. He and his friend Adara rode the ponies and even went in a Fun House at the Amusement Park part.

p1020766.jpg

Yes, across from the zoo is an Amusement Park, with all sorts of rides. The kids, and Rachael :0) got to go on one ride because we were on our way back from walking over to the beach where we had ice cream and needed to get going.

p1020757.jpg

Yep, that’s right we left the zoo and walked over to the beach where we watched them make Salt Water Taffy and had some ice cream while enjoying the ocean breeze :0). It was a fabulous time!!

Up a little

I forgot to post that we are up to $11.00… we’re on our way.

I’ve also had some great Moms in my Mom’s group donate bottles so that I can take them around the community for spare change jars. I’ll post when I get them out into the community, hopefully either by the end of this week or next week!

This Week

Well…

p1020577.jpg

This week was pretty uneventful! Our Pool Party got canceled due to rain/Thunderstorms but a friend did come over a visit for a while, thanks Rachael, Adara and Carter!! Preston finished up his last week of Summer School. Therefore he is done until Sept. 11th, when his Pre-K classes start, hopefully that goes well :0). We did get out of the house today to the park for a Picnic with my Mom’s Group. We had a good turn out and the kids and Moms had fun… and there was PLENTY of yummy food!! Oh and to top of today when we went to the farm to get our veggies (we are in a community share program with a local farm, another Mom in my Mom’s group and I split a share of veggies) we got to pick our own cherry tomatoes. Preston was VERY excited about this… Mom don’t let me forget to take us to Parlee Farms when you guys are here. Parlee is the local fruit farm that is a pick your own farm. This kids LOVE it!!

***I have a picture for this but the upload section has disappeared so when we can find it again we’ll get the picture up!!

Eww, this is a neat idea

So I came across a neat Fundraiser, it’s for pet treats, dog and cat. (Just click on it to make it bigger)

FundRaiser

Let me know what you think!! I just sent off for a sample to try on Boo and C.J. and I’ll get a friend to test them on a kitty cat.

I also like this one:

It’s a little more pricey but is an awesome idea!!
