crazy week!

It’s been a very hectic week!! We’ve been getting everything ready for me to leave on my Mom’s Get Away weekend :0), my first ever! A few of us Mom’s are heading to Martha’s Vineyard for a couple of days WITHOUT kids or husbands, yay!

We did get out of the house today. We made our way over to Jen’s for some playgroup fun. The kids had lunch there, thanks Jen, went swimming in the kiddie pools and played in the sandbox. Everyone had fun.

I think Preston is excited to have a weekend with Dad and Sister. Kyla, who knows, she’s so independent she coud care less where I am at times. Therefore you won’t hear from me in a few days, so hope everyone has a great weekend!!

oh Kyla

One more down

I finally got connected with another agency for our Home Study. I was really comfortable with them but still don’t completely agree with their fees. They charge on a sliding scale so that everyone has a chance to adopt. I understand it, I just don’t agree with it. They also charge another fee, call Parent Initiated, since we aren’t using them for the entire adoption they wan to charge us an extra 2k. So in short I’m looking at another agency. Actually this one a family I know adopted through them when they adopted their daughter from Ethiopia. I really enjoyed talking to them today and will hopefully talk to the lady in charge of the Parent Initiated stuff tomorrow!

Finally

So I finally got the information I was waiting for from one of the Home Study agencies. I really like the agency but need to get some questions answered about their fees. Not quite understanding why they base their fees on a “sliding scale”, meaning the more you make the more you pay. I think it’s ridiculous but we’ll see how she explains it tomorrow. I should be receiving a phone call from her tomorrow. Then hopefully I can pick one and get back on track.

Not sure if I explained why we are looking for a Home Study agency, so here: The Adoption Agency that we are using(CHI) is based out of another state and we have to have our Home Study performed by an agency Licensed in MA. Therefore we have to find a local Home Study agency. I’m personally calling and talking to the ones on my list so that I can get a feel for them and see if we will work well together :0).

I think that is about it. Oh, we are starting to branch out a bit with the blog. Thanks to everyone who is helping get the word out! I’ve been receiving some emails with wonderful words of encouragement and support, thank you!!

phone calls, phone calls, phone calls

So I made a couple of phone calls this morning but haven’t heard back from either. Though I did receive a follow up email from a Adoption Agency that I emailed weeks ago. Somehow the original email got lost somewhere, crazy computers :0). Though I’m 99% sure that I’ll stay with Children’s House International(CHI) I still want to see what they have to say.

We also got all the paper work from CHI, application and such. So we need to start filling that out and get the checks ready to send off :0).

Oh, the logo for the totes is getting drawn up. Well, I actually “drew” it but Rob is going to perfect it, cause I can’t draw… no laughing Rachael :0). I’ll hopefully be ordering the totes in about two weeks and then get them up on ebay and craigslist, along with giving them away for a $5 donation.

I’m so excited for the totes and I hope you are too!!

crazy sicknesses

This weekend didn’t really feel like a weekend. Jarod had a double header on Saturday, which meant he was gone ALL DAY! Though his team did clench the number one seed going into the playoffs :0). He’s very happy for his team but has decided that it is too far to drive for his games, one game including driving can take 5 hours or more! Therefore he’s going to play on a Nashua area team next year. That way the drive will only be about 15 minutes instead of 45-60.

He also had his first soccer game on Sunday on an official team. I believe he played center fullback and did well but the team is a bit rusty so they lost 5-3. Better luck next time! :0)

Preston had a good weekend but it was a bit overshadowed by Kyla. She took a SIX hour nap on Saturday, during which she threw up! She then got up took a bath and layed on the couch with me for about an hour. She then went back to bed until about 9 on Sunday got up and was crazy as ever. Very strange. Then Jarod got home and his stomach started feeling very yucky that afternoon. So he was down and out all afternoon!

Luckily I did get out Sunday afternoon. We had our first Halloween Carnival Committee Meeting or HCC. It went very well and we got a lot of ideas on the table. Now it’s on to getting them all done and having a successful Halloween Carnival!

Papers

I received a bunch of information from A Red Thread, an adoption agency here in MA. The information is about Home Studies and such. It’s really great information!

I’m still working on contacting another agency and my goal is to do it before the weeks end.

I’m also almost done getting the spare change bottles ready and will start getting them out next week.

And in the mean time I’m working on getting our blog out into the internet world. If any of you have sites or blogs we would really appreciate your help :0)!

Take care!

No Yard Sale

Our Yard Sale got canceled due to the family hosting it came down with a stomach bug last night :0(.

But that is okay, I’m compiling a list for craigslist and am taking donations to put on the list. I’ve had families donate a mattress set, including frame, an air conditioner and some other baby items to name a few :0). If there is something you have that you don’t need/want or it’s just takig up room and you’ve been meaning to get rid of it, now is your chance!

Oh, we also have another donation. My Mom has offered to make an Afghan for a raffle, yay Mom!! She’s been making these for YEARS, so it will be great!! Not exactly sure how we’ll raffle it yet but I’ll keep you up on how it is coming along :0)!

Preston’s day out

So the weather was great today but since I was babysitting and the little boy fell asleep before we could leave we weren’t going to make it to the park. But luckily for Preston his friend Chandler came by and picked him up and they went to the park. He was like a 17 year old, “gotta go Mom” and ran out the door, no hug, no kiss, no nothin’. He had a great time though :0)!!
