back to basics

It feels so good to get back to the basics of being a Mom!

We’ve been really really low key lately. Like not leaving the house low key. It’s been soooo nice. I’ve been able to keep up on the house, spend time with the kids and feel like a ‘good’ Mom again. There are so many things to do and place to go that you just get so wrapped up in doing it all that you forget about the basics. Simple stuff like making a good dinner for the family. I got rid of all the extras that we had to do during the day, especially with the house going on the market. It’s been a nice restart.

Kyla is going to be starting up Soccer this week but that is it. Though her sassy self was put back in line this afternoon. She seriously thinks she rules the world but we’ll see how it goes from here on out.

Baby K has a cold but otherwise is doing well. No new news on her situation… more waiting, as usual.

I have no knew pictures or anything else. Like I said we’ve been laying low. I think Soccer will be it for us this week. Oh plus a visit to Baby K’s Brother’s place and then EI(early intervention) will come to us on Friday. We always have something to do but the last few days have been really good.

Now off to finish up some laundry.

So much going on

Alright, so I’ve been a bit mia lately. Lots going on!

We listed our house on the MLS. So if you know anyone looking for a home in the Northern MA/Southern NH area, we have a great 3 bedroom for sale. We’ve had two showings already this week(our first week listed) and just scheduled another one for Sat. The house looks great, I’m so happy with how it came out, now if only someone else loves it too :0). We do have our eye on a house right now and are waiting for some questions to be answered so we can hopefully move forward on it. Such a big waiting game.

Baby K was re-evaluated for Early Intervention yesterday. They sent out 4 ladies to evaluate her. The observe and interact with her to determine if she is on par or behind. I’ve been concerned with her speech/language and I was right! Her Receptive Language is behind by about 8 months. Meaning she’s not understanding what we are asking of her. Which makes me feel a lot better considering she doesn’t seem to “get it” especially when you try to correct her or redirect her. No just doesn’t work. It can be really frustrating because she always goes back for more…. that could end up being really dangerous, especially since she doesn’t stay with you in public, walking is not a choice for her. So I’m really interested to see how this process goes and to see her improve. We start next week.

This is Kyla’s first week home in a year of having school. She’s doing really well. Hasn’t even asked about going to school. Though we’ve been busy, playdates and such. She’s actually at a friend’s house right now. I’ll be signing her up for Soccer here next week. I want to check out a class first. I’m wanting to put her in the next class, she’s almost the right age and I feel she would be fine. So we’ll see.

Preston has been doing really well. He has baseball and hockey, plus school. He keeps us busy on a daily basis.

I’ve just been keeping the house clean and keeping order in the house, HA. But for the most part just keeping up with everyone.

Jarod’s been busy at work and helping around the house. He’s been helping out at the baseball clinic that Preston goes to and he still plays soccer twice a week.

Now I’m off to finish cleaning out the fridge and hopefully get Baby K down for a nap while Kyla is away so I can get some other cleaning done.

sports and climbers

so we’ve had a tummy bug the last few days. Not to bad but enough to be annoying. Hopefully we are clear of it now and can move on to getting things done.

We’ve been working on the house. Still cleaning it up and out to see if we can list it soon.

Finally talked with Baby K’s case worker from DCF, nothing new, just more waiting…. soon, hopefully, we’ll know what’s going on!

Preston started his Baseball clinic last week. He’s having fun and Preston’s coach last from last year talked(which probably wasn’t too hard) Jarod into helping out…. it’s good for him ;0).

Preston is still enjoying Hockey. He even got to bring home the trophy they won from their Xmas tournament… very proud! The coaches lets a different kid take the trophy home each week :0).

Kyla has her last day of school tomorrow but is excited to start Soccer. Otherwise she’s just being a big help around the house.

Baby K is a ball of fire ;0). She’s a busy busy girl. Loves climbing right now, especially on to the top of the dining room table!! I’m a bit concerned about her speech/language so she is going to be re-evaluated by Early Intervention next week. She also had a sibling visit last week, she and her brother got along great and even played together.

Get ready, get set, go

We’ve bee really really busy this last week with de-cluttering the house, finishing up painting, getting new carpets, rearranging rooms and all kind of other stuff. It has felt soooo good to clean out the house, and I mean CLEAN OUT the house!!!

We’re almost ready. Ready for what? To put our house back on the market. Yep, we’re doing it again but this time the house is where it should be. It’s freshly updated and ready to go…. hopefully sooner then later ;0). I have Real Estate Agents lined up this week for CMA’s so that we can get an idea of what our house should be priced at. Then we’ll go from there.

We have no plans to leave the area, just need/want more living space. Hopefully it all works out.

SO, if you know anyone that is looking for a 3bedroom home in our area, send them our way! ;0)

Happy 2010

So it’s a new year and hopefully I’ll get back on track. This is my main focus right now, getting back on track. We’re cutting back on activities/school stuff… kinda rebooting life :0). Now that the Holidays are over and the new year is upon us I feel like reorganizing life. Kyla’s going to finish up a couple weeks of school and then stop, she’s already stopped gymnastics. Though she does want to do Soccer, so that will start later this month but that’s it. Preston still has Hockey, it goes until April. But there is a Baseball clinic that starts up on Tuesday that he’ll be going too. Luckily though, it’s the only thing on Tuesday evening and it starts later then last year, so no rushing around everywhere. Baby K is doing great we’re just anxiously awaiting the powers-that-be to make a decision. Hopefully we find out sooner then later if her brother will transition to our house or if we’ll be transitioning her to his house….. this is going to be a big month!!

Now let’s take a few steps back…

Xmas was good. The kids were really excited…. like the whole month of December! Preston got a Lego set from Santa. Not the one he wanted though but he thought it was better then the one he had asked Santa for……. phew!! Kyla got a Zhu Zhu pet but I think her favorite stuff was her Click Start Leap Frog keyboard(hooks up to the tv, and is like a computer), her Dr. kit and Baby K’s toys ;0). Baby K decided to sleep in on Xmas morning, til like 10!! It was nice though because the 2 big kids got to go through everything without her trying to get into everything. She enjoyed opening like 2 presents and was good. She really liked her ABC Train, camera, dolly and tractor.

Thanks to everyone who sent gifts and/or cards!!!

My Birthday was the 23rd of December. Jarod came home early that day and I went and got a much needed massage! Later that night I met some friends at a local pool hall and had a lot of fun. Thanks to those who made it out that night, it was great seeing you and Congrats to Kyle, she just got engaged!!

Now back to the present…..

Today was a big day in the Wilson Household, we got NEW carpet. Not the whole house but the living room and Preston’s room. What a huge difference and it not only looks soo much better if FEELS soo much better!!

Slacker

Yep, that’s me, a slacker. I know I’ve been WAY behind on the blogging thing but oh well :0)

I guess the big news surrounds Baby K. We had a quarterly meeting on Thursday. This consisted of me, my coordinator, Baby K’s case worker from DCF and Baby K’s attorney. They had a court date earlier this month and the relatives that were in question are out of the picture. This means for the first time in over a year we have a solid plan for what’s next! Next month, January, DCF puts a panel of certain peeps together and they sit down and decide where Baby K and her brother will go. They will either go(be adopted) by us or by Baby K’s brother’s Foster Family. Yes, we are still in limbo but for once there is an end in sight and that feels good. It’s nerve wracking to know that someone else gets to decide their fate but our fingers are crossed and our thoughts are positive!

On a fun note, we picked up new couches today. We got two 8 foot microfiber couches, in a toupe color off of craigslist from a wonderful family. The kids and I went to check them out about a month ago and liked them enough to make an offer on them… pretty good deal or so I think. She was really really nice, even cleaned them!! We have all the warranty info and cleaners for them. They look fantastic and it’s so nice to have newer furniture. I think we bought our 1st(and only) couch roughly 8 years ago.

Gotta give a quick shout out to Chris for helping Jarod in getting them to our house, THANK YOU!!

Now we’re just getting ready for Xmas. Shopping is all done, well, Jarod may have some left, not sure. But overall all done. Went to MENTOR’s Xmas party last night. The kids had a blast. It was fun. We’ve been with them now for over a year, so this was our second Xmas party and I know more families now and workers. Plus Preston and Kyla know more of the kids since we do respite(it’s like babysitting for other foster families) so they had fun seeing and playing with kiddos that have stayed with us. I think my favorite part is being able to expose my kids to all the different cultures and blended families while at MENTOR functions. It’s such a great opportunity for them to see all the “different” yet “normal” lives that everyone lives. I love it!

Doing some more painting, dining room today.

And experimenting with my new blog app on my iPhone

Yeah, I probably should

I should really update this blog more often but I like not being on the computer that much anymore. Been painting the inside of the house. Spending more floor time with the kiddos. Getting out more. It’s nice.

Anyways, Kyla ended up with a toxic reaction to the Amox. Basically she had a rash that took a few days to completely go away. She’s fine :0). Also had a conference at her school, she’s doing well, just doesn’t like the spot light…. or more like being put on the spot.

I attended my work out class again, I’m sore… which is good :0).

Oh, I finally met with the new case/adoption worker for Baby K. Same-o-same-o. Nothing new. Still trying to figure out relative and what’s happening with that. Only time will tell.

I took the kids to the zoo last Wed. It was great spending the day with just my kids. We had a lot of fun.

Tuesday, we went to the Ecotarium with JoAnna and her boys. It was a lot of fun and a great Fall afternoon.

Yesterday late afternoon we went to CoCo Key’s Water Resort, they’re doing this free entry thing in the evenings of weekdays. It was nice to go back but I think I’m good with that place. Maybe it’s because Baby K is so little, or the water is a tad bit chilly or the air in the building is……… maybe I’m just getting old ;0).

Tomorrow, should be nice. Heading out to play pool with some new friends. It should be fun! Then Saturday I’m heading over to another friend’s house to get a mani/pedi… that’ll be great :0)!!
